In loving memory of Rav Mikhael Cohen, the founder and spiritual leader of CCF Chabad New York, whose life was a testament to unwavering faith, boundless love, and an extraordinary commitment to the Jewish community. Rav Mikhael’s mission was clear and profound: to create a home where French Jewish culture could thrive and where individuals from all walks of life could feel the warmth of Torah, tradition, and unity.
Rav Mikhael was not just a Rabbi; he was a mentor, a friend, and a beacon of inspiration. His elevated soul touched countless lives with his kindness, wisdom, and relentless dedication. Through Torah classes, uplifting Shabbatons, and joyous holiday celebrations, he built a vibrant community that continues to carry his legacy forward.
During his lifetime, Rav Mikhael personified the teachings of the Torah, fostering love for Hashem and for one another. His ability to bridge cultures, welcoming French Jews into the heart of New York while extending Jewish pride and values to all, was unparalleled. His humility and grace were matched only by his passion for bringing holiness into the world.
Even as we lost him to the ravages of Covid-19 in 2020, his spirit remains alive in the community he built and the lives he transformed. Rav Mikhael's teachings remind us that every soul has the power to create a dwelling place for Hashem, and every act of kindness and learning elevates the world around us.
We honor Rav Mikhael Cohen’s memory by continuing his sacred work, strengthening the bonds of our community, and carrying forward his mission to illuminate the path of Torah and Mitzvot.
